Punjab: Body of man accused of murdering lover found in Barnala fields 4 days after her death

Barnala, Oct 13 (UNI) In a fresh twist to the murder case involving a woman at a hotel in Tapa Mandi in Barnala district, the body of the prime accused, Amandeep Singh, was recovered from agricultural fields in Kararwala village today, four days after he allegedly killed his lover.
The body was found in a decomposed condition near a tubewell in the fields.
Police suspect that Amandeep may have consumed a poisonous substance after allegedly murdering the woman, though the exact cause of his death is yet to be established.
The development comes four days after the body of Jasvir Kaur, wife of Manga Singh, was found in a blood-soaked condition inside a room at the Milan Hotel in Tapa Mandi.
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman had sustained multiple injuries inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon on her neck and other parts of the body.
Police investigation revealed that the deceased was allegedly in a close relationship with Amandeep Singh, son of Pyara Singh. After the alleged murder, Amandeep reportedly fled the hotel by climbing out through a window or door. Several police teams had been conducting searches to trace him.
The case took a fresh turn this morning when a farmer from Kararwala village reached his agricultural field to switch on the tubewell motor and spotted a body lying nearby.
The farmer immediately informed the police, following which a team reached the spot.
The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition, with a strong foul smell emanating from it, suggesting that it had been lying there for several days.
After examining the deceased's physical features and clothing, police identified the body as that of Amandeep Singh, the prime accused in the hotel murder case.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. The suspected consumption of poison is yet to be confirmed, and the exact cause of death will be established after the requisite medical examination.
The recovery of Amandeep's body is expected to be an important development in the investigation into the murder of Jasvir Kaur.
