Ranchi hospitals, clinics told to display rates, doctors' details

Ranchi, Oct 29 (UNI) The Ranchi district health administration has directed all nursing homes, hospitals, clinics and other applicable clinical establishments to prominently display their registration certificates, service rate charts and details of doctors, giving them seven days to comply.
The order was issued on October 29 by the Civil Surgeon-cum-Chief Medical Officer, Ranchi, under the guidelines of the Clinical Establishments Act (CEA), following a request from social activist Jyoti Sharma.
According to the order, establishments must display valid and updated registration certificates or licences at their reception or another conspicuous place accessible to patients and the public.
They have also been instructed to display itemised rate charts covering consultation fees, investigation charges, procedure charges, bed charges and other applicable service fees.
Details of doctors, including their names, medical qualifications, registration particulars, medical council affiliation, specialities and consultation or duty timings, must also be displayed clearly.
The order further requires establishments to provide information on available medical services and facilities, patients' rights, grievance redressal mechanisms and applicable guidelines. They have been directed to ensure transparency in charges and refrain from imposing undisclosed fees contrary to applicable rules.
The Civil Surgeon said designated inspecting authorities would verify compliance during inspections. Any deficiencies or violations would be brought to the notice of the competent authority for appropriate action under the law.
