Rights must go hand in hand with responsibilities: Telangana Gov

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday called upon citizens, particularly the youth, to give equal importance to their duties and responsibilities along with their rights and contribute to nation-building with patriotism, discipline and national consciousness.
Addressing the 19th National Conference of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad as chief guest, the Governor said the energy of the youth should be channelled towards strengthening the nation rather than destruction.
Recalling the integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union, Mr Shukla highlighted the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the Indian Army in the process.
He appreciated the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha for its efforts over the past 25 years to promote patriotism, discipline and national consciousness.
The Governor said India's progress towards Atmanirbhar Bharat was strengthening indigenous defence technology and production and stressed the need for greater coordination among research institutions, the armed forces and the defence industry.
He said retirement from the armed forces did not mean retirement from national service, as the discipline, leadership and experience of ex-servicemen remained valuable assets for nation-building.
He also paid tribute to serving personnel and the families of martyrs for their sacrifices.
Calling upon citizens to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047, Shukla quoted Swami Vivekananda and urged people to move forward with determination and a spirit of national service.
On the occasion, the Governor presented Utkrishta Deshbhakti Medals to five distinguished members for their contributions.
Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha National President and Vir Chakra awardee Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi, Telangana State President Major General N Srinivasa Rao, Acharya Lokesh, founder of Vishva Shanti Kendra, Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin, Professor Neelam Pawar, Narendra Ram Nambul and Anuradha Rao, among others, attended the conference, a Lok Bhavan communique said.
