Road restoration campaign to run from Oct 1- Nov 10

Lucknow, Sep 28 (UNI) A massive road restoration campaign will be launched from October 1 to November 10 to repair roads damaged during the laying of pipelines for drinking water schemes in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh.
State Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Monday directed officials to ensure road repairs are carried out in accordance with prescribed standards during the campaign and to ensure regular monitoring of the work.
Swatantra Dev Singh conducted a division-wise review of various drinking water schemes through video conferencing at the State Drinking Water and Sanitation Mission office.
He said that in villages where drinking water is still unavailable, pending works should be completed on a priority basis to ensure drinking water is made available to the villagers as soon as possible.
During the review meeting, he also reviewed the preparations for the road restoration campaign. He said that roads dug up for laying pipelines should be repaired on a priority basis during the campaign.
To this end, special attention should be paid to the quality of work, while assigning responsibility to the concerned agencies and officials.
The Jal Shakti Minister clarified that if any complaint regarding road restoration is received after November 10th, the responsible agency and the responsible engineer will be held accountable. He stated that negligence at any level in the implementation of drinking water schemes will not be tolerated.
For the convenience of villagers, a special system has been established to register complaints related to road restoration on the Jal Sarathi app.
Villagers can upload photos and videos of the site to the app if they have complaints regarding road conditions. Based on the complaints received, the concerned officials will ensure necessary action.
During the meeting, the Minister also emphasised the timely completion of drinking water schemes. He directed officials to prioritise pending work in areas where drinking water supply has not yet been established. He directed special attention to the quality of the schemes and the speed of work.
Several agencies exhibiting negligence were also issued a strict warning. The Minister stated that if any irregularity or negligence is found at any level in the implementation of the schemes, responsibility will be fixed and necessary action will be taken. UNI MBD SAS
