Vijayawada, Oct 10 (UNI) With the Naidu government giving priority for the tourism sector development in Andhra Pradesh, eight massive tourism projects, taken up at a cost of Rs 428 crore, are being carried out expeditiously at various places as part of rejuvenating the sector.
An official release here today said that AP Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh is constantly monitoring the construction works and reviewing from time to time. The central government has extended Rs 428 crore in the last two years to carry out eight tourism projects. The State tourism sector has attracted over Rs 20,000 crore worth investments which helped to improve the State's position at the national level from 16th place to 13th.

The Tourism Minister introduced a free QR code digital guide facility—providing information in over 130 languages across more than 100 tourist destinations in the state—and organized tourism festivals to ensure the sector remains vibrant throughout the year.

The Tourism Minister convinced the Centre to sanction Rs 94.44 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme to beautify the Godavari River embankments in which the development of Nidadavole constituency was included.
The development of Pushkar Ghat in Rajamahendravaram and a state-of-the-art 'Experience Centre' at the Kadiyam Nursery are set to become available soon.
Durgesh is taking significant strides toward the ambitious goal of transforming the historic Gandikota in Kadapa district—renowned as the 'Grand Canyon of India'—into a world-class tourist destination. Under the central government's SWADESH Darshan scheme, an expenditure of Rs 77.91 crore has been utilized to create facilities that allow tourists to enjoy the natural beauty; these include three magnificent viewpoints, a heritage walk, an upper trail, and a dedicated boating point.

The famous Suryalanka Beach in Bapatla district is being developed as the most attractive seaside destination at a cost of Rs 97.52 crore allocated under the 'Swadesh Darshan 2.0' scheme by the Centre. Under the PRASAD scheme, the uphill and downhill areas of the Simhachalam shrine have been beautifully developed at a cost of Rs 54.04 crore.

A new Annadanam (free meal) building is being constructed at a cost of Rs 25.32 crore under the PRASAD scheme at hill shrine Annavaram and as part of this initiative, projects worth Rs 24.96 crore—including a new museum, the beautification of Sannidhi Street, state-of-the-art toilet blocks, a spacious parking area, and shopping complexes—have already been completed.

The government has accorded special priority to developing the Buddhist circuit at Nagarjuna Sagar—a site of immense historical and spiritual significance—into a world-class Buddhist tourism destination, utilizing Rs 25 crore allocated under the Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD) scheme at Nagarjunakonda.
