School girl stabbed to death inside her house, another hurt in TN

Chennai, May 28 (UNI) In a shocking and spine chilling incident, a tenth
standard girl student was stabbed to death in her residence and her
relative, also a student, was injured in a brutal attack by two youths at
Sholingur in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday evening.
Reports received at the Police headquarters here said the two students
were studying in their house when the assailants barged in and stabbed
them, killing one of them on the spot.
The deceased was identified as 15-year-old Janani, and her friend Latchaya
(16), studying 11th standard, sustained serious stab wounds and was rushed
to a hospital.
Hearing their screams, locals manage to nab one of them, who swooned in
front of the house, and handed him over to the police, while the other assailant
managed to escape. He was arrested and admitted to hospital for treatment.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot and shifted the girl's body to the
government hospital for post mortem.
The incident, which was said to have occurred due to unrequited love affair,
sent shock waves in the village.
The reports said one of the youth had fell in love with Janani, a native of
Tiruvallur district, but she was said to have rejected it.
Janani, who had come to her grandparents house for summer vacation,
and her relative were studying, when the incident took place.
Police are on the look out for the other person, who fled the scene.
