SCR GM reviews train safety, stresses strict compliance with procedures

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Monday directed officials to ensure strict compliance with station working rules and safety procedures and strengthen coordination among departments to prevent disruptions to train operations.
Srivastava issued the directions during a review meeting on the safety of train operations across the SCR zone held at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Additional General Manager Satya Prakash, Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions participated in the meeting.
The General Manager directed officials to keep working rules updated and ensure regular counselling of staff on safe working practices.
He also called for awareness among villagers living near railway stations to prevent cattle from crossing railway tracks, saying such measures would help avoid untoward incidents, protect cattle, prevent damage to locomotives and reduce train detentions.
Srivastava instructed executive departments to maintain close coordination while undertaking field works to avoid delays and repercussions to train operations.
He further advised officials to nominate train-passing and loco-running staff for periodic medical examinations well before their due dates and send supervisors and field staff for refresher courses to upgrade their knowledge and working skills.
