Seethakka appointed to cabinet panel on drought and El Niño

Hyderabad, Oct 19 (UNI) Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has been appointed as a member of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to review drought and El Niño conditions in the State and recommend measures to address their impact. The government issued G.O. Rt. No. 1523 to this effect.
Seethakka has been focusing on ensuring an uninterrupted supply of drinking water in rural areas, anticipating that El Niño could lead to reduced rainfall and increased pressure on groundwater resources. She has been conducting regular reviews with officials to identify and address potential water shortages in villages before the onset of summer.
The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department is prioritising water conservation measures, including the construction and maintenance of soak pits, farm ponds and percolation tanks to improve groundwater recharge and conserve rainwater.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, comprises Ministers Seethakka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Vakiti Srihari.
The panel will periodically review El Niño conditions, issue necessary directions to departments and recommend further measures to the government.
