Mumbai, June 9 (UNI) Bollywood actress Shriya Pilgaonkar recently had a deeply moving encounter in Lucknow with several women officers of Uttar Pradesh Police, which was a poignant moment for her.
Shriya, who stunned the audience with her powerful transformation as a police officer in Zee5's original series "Chhal Kapat: The Deception", met with several officers, including ADG Padmaja Chauhan and was briefed about the functioning of Uttar Pradesh's state-of-the-art helpline 1090, which provides quick service to women.
Shriya described this experience as 'eye-opening' and said that it gave her an opportunity to better understand the character of Inspector Devika more deeply. Devika, a victim of domestic violence, is now an officer whose eyes can tear apart lies and deceit.
"Chhal Kapat: The Deception" unfolds against the backdrop of a joyous wedding ceremony in a small village, where Alisha meets her childhood friends - Mehak, Ira and Shalu. But, this atmosphere of happiness is shaken when Shalu, a social media influencer, is found dead. As suspicion casts shadows over each friend, Inspector Devika is tasked with untangling the web of deceit, all while confronting her own deeply buried scars.
Shriya remarked, "What truly moved me was meeting the incredible women police officers and learning about the 1090 helpline. Devika, the character I play, isn’t just a cop—she’s a woman balancing her own pain and past while standing tall in the face of injustice."
