Six arrested with 35 kg Ganja in Haryana's Faridabad

Faridabad, Oct 15 (UNI) Faridabad Police have arrested six alleged cannabis smugglers, including three women, and seized around 35 kg of ganja from three bags near Old Faridabad railway station road during the intervening night of October 14 and 15.
The arrests were made by the Sector 16 Crime Branch following a tip-off that a group was travelling from Odisha to Faridabad by train with a consignment of cannabis. Police said preliminary questioning indicated that the contraband was intended for distribution in Palwal and Noida.
The arrested men have been identified as Vinod, a resident of Dujana village in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddha Nagar district; Virender, a resident of Siloti village in Palwal; and Baljit, a resident of Hidayatpur village in Palwal. Three women from Uttar Pradesh have also been arrested.
According to a Faridabad Police spokesperson, a preliminary investigation has identified Vinod as the alleged mastermind of the smuggling network. He had reportedly travelled from Odisha with the three women carrying the cannabis by train.
Police said Vinod had allegedly asked his maternal cousin, Virender, to collect the consignment at Old Faridabad railway station. Virender reached the station with his associate Baljit. The plan was allegedly to transport part of the consignment to Palwal through the two men, while Vinod and the three women were to take the remaining consignment to Noida.
The accused are to be produced before a court, and the police will seek their remand for further interrogation. Investigators will question them about the source of the contraband, the wider smuggling network, other persons involved, and their respective roles in the operation.
Further investigation is underway.
