Southwest monsoon likely to advance over remaining parts of country during next two days

Pune, June 28 (UNI) Conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of the Southwest monsoon over remaining parts of the country during the next two days.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal ( > 5.1°C) at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, Odisha and west Uttar Pradesh; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh and Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over east Uttar Pradesh and coastal Karnataka; at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Kerala and Mahe; near normal(-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at many places over Gangetic West Bengal, Punjab, Jammu- Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Madhya Maharashtra; at most places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Konkan and Goa, Telangana, north interior Karnataka, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep; at a few places over Uttarakhand, Marathwada, Vidarbha and coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at isolated places over east Rajasthan and Saurashtra and Kutch. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 41.2°C was reported at Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh).

The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over east Madhya Pradesh and It has been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Uttarakhand, east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at many places in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka.
