New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice on a petition filed by a pregnant journalist seeking an FIR against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he pushed her during a march to the apex court.
Three-month-pregnant journalist Richa Parashar has moved the Supreme Court seeking impleadment in a case concerning political demonstrations on court premises, alleging that Rahul Gandhi pushed her during the INDIA bloc leaders’ march to the apex court on October 12.
The journalist alleged that Rahul Gandhi pushed her forcefully near the Supreme Court gate, causing her to fall, damage her phone, and suffer abdominal pain. She claimed she received no help for nearly 40 minutes and later faced public humiliation and online abuse.
Despite filing a police complaint seeking an FIR against Gandhi and others, no FIR has been registered. She has sought an FIR, preservation of CCTV footage, compensation, an apology, and protection for herself and her family.
Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia mentioned the application before Chief Justice Surya Kant, following which the bench ordered notice to the respondents.
