Telangana Govt slashes Metro-RTC common travel pass prices as Diwali gift

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) The Telangana government has announced a significant reduction in the prices of joint Metro-RTC travel passes as a Diwali gift to commuters, bringing substantial relief to the public.
Announcing the decision on Friday, Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the move was taken on the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy with the objective of reducing the financial burden on commuters and encouraging the use of public transport.
The daily Common Travel Pass price has been reduced from Rs 400 to Rs. 275, comprising Rs 200 for Metro travel and Rs 75 for RTC travel. The pass allows four single journeys a day.
Similarly, the monthly pass price has been slashed from Rs. 8,500 to Rs. 4,000, comprising Rs 3,000 for Metro travel and Rs. 1,000 for RTC travel. It allows a maximum of 50 round trips a month, resulting in a saving of Rs. 4,500 for monthly pass holders.
The revised fares will come into effect from November 8. The Minister said the government had directed the concerned organisations to make necessary arrangements for implementing the revised fares.
Ponnam Prabhakar said the decision reflected the government's commitment to public welfare and would provide considerable financial relief to daily commuters, according to an official statement.
