Hyderabad, May 20 (UNI) Telangana has emerged as the top-performing state in India for recovering stolen and lost mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, with a record 78,114 devices recovered as of May 19, 2025.
Despite launching the CEIR portal 227 days after the pilot states, Telangana now leads the country in recoveries. The CEIR portal, developed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), is operational across all 780 police stations in the state under the supervision of the CID, Telangana, which serves as the nodal agency.
The highest number of recoveries were reported in the Hyderabad Commissionerate (11,879), Cyberabad Commissionerate (10,385), and Rachakonda Commissionerate (8,681).
The CID’s success is attributed to dedicated field-level action, integration with the TG Police Citizen Portal, and citizen-friendly measures.
Director General of CID Telangana Shikha Goel, IPS, praised the efforts of CID officials and the close coordination with DoT personnel for achieving this national milestone, an official statement said on Tuesday.
