Three drown in temple tank, Stalin announces solatium

Chennai, May 6 (UNI) Three people were drowned in a temple tank in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, even as Chief Minister M K Stalin announced a solatium of Rs three lakh each to their families.
The deceased had gone to the Lord Veeraraghava Swamy Temple, one of the 108 Divyadesam Vaishnavite shrines, to witness the annual brahmotsavam, when they entered the tank to have a
bath and met with a watery grave.
They were identified as Veeraraghvan (24) from Thiruthangal in the southern Virudhunagar district, Venkataraman (17) from Ambattur near Chennai and Hahiharan (16) from Kundrathur in Kancheepuram district.
Acting on information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot, fished out the bodies and shifted them to Tiruvallur government hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, Mr Stalin expressed deep anguish and grief over their deaths and announced the solatium from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund, an official release said.
