Umesh Pal's killer brought to Prayagraj from Bihar jail

Prayagraj, Oct 5 (UNI) Police brought Arman, a shooter involved in the Umesh Pal murder case, to Prayagraj on Monday morning from Bihar.
Arman was a shooter for the mafia don late Atiq Ahmed. Carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, Arman had been lodged in Bihar's Gayaji Jail for three years, while the UP Police had been searching for him across the state and country.
Police here on Monday said Arman has been brought to Prayagraj on transit remand and is currently being kept at a secure location. The Dhoomanganj police will produce Arman in court, where the trial for the murder of Umesh Pal and his two police bodyguards is underway.
Security at the court has been tightened ahead of his appearance; entry into the court premises is being granted only after thorough screening of everyone arriving. The police may also file an application for Arman's custody in court today; if granted, they intend to interrogate him regarding the Umesh Pal murder case.
Atiq Ahmed's wife, Shaista Parveen, and his brother Ashraf's wife, Zainab Fatima, have been absconding since the Umesh Pal murder. During interrogation, the police will attempt to gather information about his contacts and potential hideouts.
The UP Police had been searching for Arman for three years when they discovered he was imprisoned in Gayaji Central Jail. Acting on this information, a team from the Dhoomanganj police station in Prayagraj visited Gayaji Jail on September 30. There, they took a recent photograph of Arman and obtained his thumbprints on a plain sheet of paper.
Lawyer Umesh Pal and his two police bodyguards were murdered in broad daylight in Prayagraj on February 24, 2023. CCTV footage of the incident surfaced, showing a motorcycle rider; according to the police, Arman was driving the bike while Guddu Muslim rode pillion. It was Arman who had transported Guddu Muslim to the crime scene on the motorcycle. As soon as the bike stopped, Guddu Muslim opened fire. Arman also fired shots. Following the incident, both fled the scene on the bike.
The key shooters involved in the murder—Guddu Muslim (alias Guddu Bambaz) and Sabir, both carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh—remain at large. Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen, Ashraf’s wife Zainab Fatima, and Atiq’s sister Ayesha Noori are also on the most-wanted list.
