Union Minister Somanna inspects redevelopment works at Bidar railway station

Hyderabad, May 31 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing redevelopment works at Bidar Railway Station on Saturday.
He was accompanied by Arun Kumar Jain, general manager of South Central Railway (SCR), Bhartesh Kumar Jain, divisional railway manager, Secunderabad Division, and other senior railway officials.
The redevelopment of Bidar Railway Station is being undertaken under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of Rs 24.35 crore.
During the inspection, the Minister reviewed the progress of key upgrades, including the construction of a new 12-meter-wide foot overbridge, installation of lifts and escalators, improvements to the booking office, and development of parking and circulating areas.
Somanna emphasised the need to expedite the construction to ensure early completion and directed officials to prioritise passenger convenience and safety throughout the modernisation process.
He also inspected the existing passenger amenities and instructed officials to conduct regular safety audits and minimise disruptions to commuters during the redevelopment phase.
The Minister appreciated the efforts being taken to maintain smooth passenger flow and uphold high standards of safety and security during the infrastructure transformation.
He underlined the importance of efficient crowd management, enhanced security protocols, and robust passenger assistance measures in view of the extensive infrastructural upgrades.
Earlier in the day, Somanna undertook a Rear Window Inspection of the Nagalpalle–Bidar section under the Secunderabad Division. He closely reviewed the track safety features and discussed further rail development plans in the region with SCR officials, a SCR statement said.
