Unity in diversity is India's greatest strength: T’ gana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla

Hyderabad, Nov 1 (UNI) Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has said that India's linguistic, cultural and regional diversity form the foundation of its national unity and strength, adding that celebrating the Formation Days of different States and union Territories on a common platform reflects the spirit of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat'.
The Governor was speaking at the Formation Day celebrations of eight States and five union Territories organised at Sanskriti Community Hall, Lok Bhavan, Hyderabad, on Sunday. The celebrations covered Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Tamil Nadu, along with Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
Describing Hyderabad as a 'Mini India', he said Telangana had always welcomed people from different parts of the country and promoted mutual respect, harmony and inclusive development.
Recalling Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contribution to national integration, the Governor said the celebrations following Rashtriya Ekta Diwas reaffirmed India's collective identity. He called upon people to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat through self-reliance, inclusive development, women's empowerment, environmental protection and good governance.
Expressing concern over inadequate rainfall in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, Shukla urged citizens to make water conservation and protection of natural resources a collective responsibility.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju also called upon people from different States and union Territories to work together for national development and enhance India's global standing.
Cultural performances showcasing the traditions and artistic heritage of the participating States and union Territories were a major attraction at the celebrations. The Governor's spouse, Janaki Shukla, and several senior officials and representatives of different States and union Territories attended the programme.
