UP: BSP chief Mayawati renews major responsibility for Akash Anand, appoints him as national coordinator

Lucknow, Oct 5 (UNI) After being expelled twice from the party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National President Mayawati today announcedre-appointment of her nephew Akash Anand as the National Coordinator of the party.
Mayawati announced this decision in a series of posts on the social media platform 'X'.
She said that as is well known, the immense sacrifices, lifelong struggles, and high ideals of the revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and his ardent follower, Shri Kanshi Ram, for the welfare of the Bahujans across the country have always been a source of inspiration. Following these principles, the BSP has achieved unprecedented success in national politics. Now, enthusiastic and vigorous preparations are being made, especially with the entire community, for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly General Elections.
Mayawati said, "It's important to emphasize that not just my personal interests, but the entire Bahujan Samaj is my extended family, and their welfare and well-being are paramount to me and always will be. Keeping this in mind, and especially to maintain discipline within the party, I have taken several tough decisions in the past few days, and my own brothers and sisters and their families have never been an exception to this, as is well known."
She further said that while Akash Anand's personality has been largely intact within the party, there have been some recent factors that have led to significant changes within the party organization, and ultimately, forced Akash Anand's father-in-law, Ashok Siddhartha, to retire from politics.
She added that since then, people have been observing significant changes in Akash Anand's personality and work style, a key evidence of which is his recent post on social media, "X," requesting his return to the party, which has been widely discussed.
Mayawati stated that the majority of party members are of the view that Akash Anand's request should be accepted and he should be given the opportunity to work in the party with his previous responsibilities, to which his father as well as his younger brother, Ishan Anand, have expressed their consent.
The former chief minister stated that in fact, Ishan Anand, demonstrating his missionary spirit, has also stated that without holding any position, he will perform whatever tasks are assigned to him in the party under the guidance of Behenji with complete honesty and dedication.
She further stated that in such a situation, after much deliberation, in the interest of the party and the movement, the party is now giving Akash Anand the opportunity to work in the party again by appointing him as the National Coordinator of the BSP.
Mayawati stated that she hopes that with Ashok Siddhartha's retirement from politics, everything will run smoothly within the party, and that frequent changes within the party organization will not be necessary. However, this will largely depend on Akash Anand.
She stated that "along with fulfilling some of his needs, I now accept this decision taken today in the interest of the party and the movement."
Along with wishing Akash Anand a bright political future, she extended her heartfelt love and blessings to him (Akash Anand), his younger brother Ishaan Anand, and his father Anand Kumar.
Mayawati also stated that not only this, but she also expressed her heartfelt and respectful gratitude to all the members of the Bahujan Samaj, especially to all her well-wishers, for their support in every situation in the recent past.
Earlier, on October 2, Akash Anand wrote an emotional post on the social media platform 'X', in which he described Mayawati as his political mentor, inspiration, and "aunt". He stated that the BSP is his family and he will not join any other party. He supported his father-in-law, Ashok Siddhartha, in his decision to retire from politics and believed that "there can be no greater relationship than the mission and the party".
On September 9, Mayawati had put a condition before Akash that if his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, retired from politics, he might consider returning to his responsibilities. Akash did not repost this post from Mayawati. On September 10, Ashok Siddharth announced his retirement, but Mayawati, considering it a late move, had expelled Akash Anand from the party.
This was the third re-entry of Akash Anand in the party after being expelled twice.
