UP govt accelerates consolidation process, over 2.1 million cases disposed of in the past eight years

Lucknow, Oct 25 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has reported progress in land consolidation, with the number of villages where the process was completed rising from 1,925 in 2017 to 3,192 in 2025.
Data from the Directorate of Consolidation also shows an increase in case disposals and the computerisation of 531 consolidation courts, as the state seeks to streamline land records, improve the handling of land disputes and make revenue-related services more efficient for farmers.
Moreover, progress has also been recorded in the computerisation of consolidation courts and the disposal of cases. These efforts aim to streamline land-related matters concerning farmers and ensure the timely transfer of revenue records to the respective tehsils.
According to the Directorate of Consolidation, the process was completed in 1,925 villages across the state in 2017. By 2025, the number had increased to 3,192 villages.
Following the completion of consolidation in these villages, the records were returned to the respective tehsils. This has helped streamline land records and facilitate revenue-related work concerning farmers.
In 2017, more than 1.255 million cases had been disposed of, while the figure rose to over 2.112 million by 2025. According to the directorate, a total of 2,112,784 cases were disposed of over the past eight years. This marks a significant achievement in resolving land disputes.
Special emphasis has been placed on computerising courts to integrate technology into the consolidation system. While no courts had been computerised under this initiative in 2017, the number reached 531 by 2025.
These include the courts of Deputy Directors of Consolidation, Settlement Officers of Consolidation and Consolidation Officers, as well as 180 Assistant Consolidation Officers' courts. This has helped make court-related operations more systematic.
Over the past eight years, a total of 1,302 villages were included under the expansion of consolidation operations. The number of villages recorded under this category stood at 2,468 in 2017, compared with 1,302 in 2025.
Departmental data identifies these as villages brought under consolidation operations during the eight-year period.
