UP govt renames engineering colleges to honour national icons and instill values in youth

Lucknow, June 28 (UNI) In a visionary move to reshape the landscape of technical education, the Yogi Adityanath government has renamed five government engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh after distinguished national personalities and historical figures.

This is not merely a formal renaming exercise, but a major step driven by social, cultural, and moral objectives. The aim is to integrate engineering education not only with technical proficiency but also with values like social awareness, justice, harmony, and inspiration.
The decision, taken under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has received formal approval from Governor Anandiben Patel.

UP Minister for Technical Education Ashish Patel today described the initiative as a "historic step to instill values in the new generation," adding that students will now be encouraged to pursue not only technical excellence but also social leadership.

With these names, the identity of the colleges will be associated not only with technical education, but also with social awareness, self-confidence, and a spirit of nation-building. In the coming times, these institutions will prepare the youth of Uttar Pradesh not only with technical expertise but also for roles in social leadership.
