Dehradun, Oct 20 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said that his government has freed more 13,000 acres of encroached government land, and forced the closure of more than 200 illegal madrasas in the last five years.
Dhami said this during Dussehra celebrations in Dehradun, reiterating that his government will continue its battle against love jehad in Uttarakhand.
Addressing a public gathering for Dussehra celebrated at Parade Ground in Dehradun, the Uttarakhand chief minister said, "A massive campaign has been launched in the state to free government land from encroachment and more than 13,000 acres of government land was freed from illegal possessions.
"We have forced closure of more than 200 illegal madrasas in the state and more than 500 illegal structures were pulled down in the ongoing campaign against illegal constructions in the state."
Reiterating his statement on alleged love jehad, Dhami stated that his government will continue its crackdown on love jehad, spit jehad and rioters.
He said that anti-social elements trying to mislead people on religious lines will not be spared.
"A strict anti-riot law has been enacted aimed at recovering damages from rioters who cause loss to public and private property. Action is also being taken against those who mislead people in the name of religion and faith and commit fraud. Implementation of Uniform Civil Code was a step towards strengthening the spirit of equality and justice," Dhami said.
"The Government's objective is to protect the rights of every citizen and maintaining a safe and harmonious environment in the state."
Dhami stressed that his government has ensured transparency in recruitment processes and a strict anti-cheating law was implemented to curb cheating and paper leaks in the examinations.
"More than 35,000 youth have been recruited in government services in the past five years. The government's effort is to ensure that youth receive equal opportunities to progress based on their merit, hard work and talent."
Chief Minister stated that the concept of Ram Rajya is based on justice, good governance, equality and public welfare.
Dhami appealed to the people to follow the teachings of Lord Ram on the occasion of Vijayadashami and resolve to take to a life of truth, righteousness, decorum and devotion towards duty.
He stated that through collective efforts Uttarakhand can be built as a state where people get equal justice, youth get opportunities to progress, women get safe environment and the benefits of development could reach the last person in society.
