Uttarakhand: Minister refutes charge of amassing more than Rs₹200 crore wealth

By Prithviraj Singh
Dehradun, Oct 18 (UNI) Uttarakhamd Cabinet minister Rekha Arya today refuted allegation of amassing wealth worth Rs₹200 crore levelled by her husband Girdhari Lal Sahu.
She said audio of Sahu, talking to another woman, released by her was fully true without any AI content as claimed by her husband in latter's video released in social media a day after he was booked by Dehradun police.
Speaking to media at a local hospital, Arya claimed that audio clip made public by her was fully authentic. "No tampering or use of artificial intelligence (AI) was done as is being alleged. First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case and I have full faith in the investigation of Uttarakhand Police," she said.

Arya stated that doubts abut Sahu's extramarital affairs crept in her mind after she noticed typical changes in his behaviour. Minister said she began questioning herself over conspicuous change in her husband's conduct following which the audio clip was discovered.
Arya stated that she decided to make the audio clip, in which Sahu was heard inciting another woman to kill the minister, public to let people know how a person like him speaks about his wife.
Speaking on the allegations of amassing wealth worth Rs 200 crore levelled by her husband, Arya added "My political life and income details are in public domain. If anyone has doubts regarding my income or property an inquiry can be instituted according to the law and findings must be made public. All accusations about amassing ill-gotten wealth against me are baseless. I am ready to accept the corresponding consequences if found guilty in the probe."
Uttarakhand minister further stated that she was being pressurised to take back the complaint, but she has refused to heed. She questioned how withdrawal of complaint by her will make allegations disappear against Sahu.
She stressed that an SIT probe will clarify everything. It's notable that Sahu released a video on Friday, alleging that Arrya had amassed wealth more than Rs 200 crore in her polotical career. He had also claimed to make all details public before media after he returns to Dehradun. He, however, did disclose his whereabouts in the video.

"I carried out my responsibilities with honesty and dedication in 22–23 years of my relationship with Sahu. I decided to make the audio public on hearing the statement and attempt to instigate another woman to kill me," said Arya.
Minister was admitted at a local hospital after she complained of uneasiness following a complaint was lodged against her husband on Thursday night.
Swearing by Golgyu Devta, deity of justice for people in Kumaon hills, Arya reiterated that audio was hundred per cent authentic and contains no fabrication or tampering. She stated that no AI was used in it either.
Arya said that through her video, she attempted to convey a message to women that domestic violence or any form of abuse should not be tolerated.
"Women must set aside concerns about family circumstances, social status and societal reactions to make decisions for their self-respect and the safety of their children," added the minister.
