Vadodara to host first Sayajirao Gaekwad Marathi Literary Conference on Oct 25

Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Vadodara, the historic city closely associated with Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad, will host the first Sayajirao Gaekwad Marathi Literary Conference on October 25, the organisers said on Thursday.
The conference is being organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Parishad and will mark the 200th literary conference organised by the parishad, its national president Dr Sharad Gore said.
The event will celebrate the enduring contribution of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad to education, libraries, culture and the promotion of Marathi language and literature, the organisers said.
During his reign, Sayajirao Gaekwad played a significant role in promoting education and literary activities and extended patronage to Marathi language and writers. The conference seeks to highlight this legacy and provide a platform for Marathi-speaking people, writers and literary enthusiasts in Gujarat.
Ranjanadevi Bhoite, vice-president of the parishad's Gujarat region, has been appointed president of the reception committee, while Manasi Mhaske, regional general secretary of the parishad, will serve as the convener of the conference.
The literary gathering will commence with a traditional book-worship ceremony and Granth Dindi, followed by the inaugural session, panel discussions on a range of literary and contemporary issues and a poetry conference.
The organisers said the event would help strengthen the cultural and literary ties between Maharashtra and Gujarat. A large number of writers, poets, literary personalities and readers from both states are expected to participate in the conference.
