Veteran Tripura journalist Biman Dhar died in a road accident

Agartala, Oct 22 (UNI) A tragic road accident near Udaipur on the Agartala-Sabroom National Highway claimed the lives of veteran Tripura journalist Biman Dhar (82) and his 30-year-old grandson, precipitating profound distress throughout the media community.
According to reports, Biman Dhar was traveling toward Udaipur in his car, accompanied by his grandson Rajib Paul, who was driving the vehicle. Their car collided with a bus in the vicinity of Kariya Mura, subsequently veering into a roadside ditch where both perished instantaneously.
Residents promptly arrived at the scene and extracted both individuals prior to the arrival of emergency response personnel. The bus driver abandoned the scene immediately following the collision. Medical professionals at Gomati District Hospital in Udaipur subsequently confirmed the deaths of both victims.
The accident has elicited expressions of condolence from media organizations, journalist associations, and the Tripura Chief Minister, who conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family. Dhar is survived by his spouse, one son, and one daughter, both of whom reside in Kolkata. Rajib, the son of his daughter, had travelled to Agartala to participate in Durga Puja festivities.
Biman Dhar was an esteemed journalist whose professional career spanned more than six decades with Tripura's most prominent daily publications. Throughout his extensive tenure, he made substantial contributions to the state's media development and maintained a prominent position in journalist circles.
His passing represents a significant loss for the state's media fraternity, particularly for colleagues and contemporaries who had observed his enduring commitment to the profession.
