Youth lives should shine, state GDP should rise: Telangana Dy CM

Hyderabad, May 28 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Wednesday emphasised the state government’s commitment to youth empowerment, asserting that the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme aims to bring light into the lives of lakhs of young people and significantly boost the state’s GDP through widespread economic participation.
Speaking via video conference with district collectors, along with Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, the Deputy CM reviewed the implementation status of the scheme and issued several key directives.
Bhatti Vikramarka noted that, unlike earlier efforts, which he described as superficial, Rajiv Yuva Vikasam reflects the true intent of a people’s government. With an investment of Rs 8,000 crore, the scheme is designed to provide employment to five lakh youth and unlock the vast potential of Telangana’s human resources.
He emphasised that financial assistance alone is not enough—ongoing monitoring and support are essential to ensure beneficiaries succeed. If young entrepreneurs face difficulties, officials must intervene proactively to help them sustain and grow their ventures.
To ensure continuous support, the Deputy CM directed that a dedicated officer be appointed at the mandal level, similar to the model under Indira Kranti Patham (IKP), to monitor beneficiaries under the scheme. He called for full-scale success in the first year, paving the way for future expansion.
Reflecting on the challenges faced by Telangana’s youth over the past decade, Bhatti Vikramarka said the new initiative is a direct response to that disillusionment. He credited Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and then Finance Secretary Ramakrishna Rao for their collaborative efforts in crafting the scheme.
He expressed appreciation for Social Welfare Principal Secretary Sridhar, BC Welfare Secretary Sridhar, Tribal Welfare Secretary Sharath, and the Managing Directors of various corporations for their dedication in translating the government’s vision into reality.
As part of the rollout, the Deputy CM directed that sanction letters be distributed to selected beneficiaries on June 2, between 4 PM and 5 PM, at all constituency headquarters. MLAs will serve as chief guests, cultural programs will be organised, and the public will be briefed on the government’s development and welfare initiatives.
He also stressed compliance with newly enacted legislation for Scheduled Caste welfare, ensuring that beneficiary selection follows legal provisions. Similarly, selections under the BC Corporation must reflect the proportion of the BC population, with appropriate safeguards in place.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Social Welfare Principal Secretary Sridhar, BC Welfare Commissioner Sridhar, and other senior officials, an official statement said. UNI VV SSP
