Delhi Police resolve 2,458 complaints at weekly Thana Divas–Jansunwai

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) Delhi Police resolved 2,458 complaints during its weekly Thana Divas–Jansunwai programme held across police stations in all 15 districts of the national capital, providing citizens an opportunity to directly raise their grievances with senior officers.
Senior police officers, ranging from Joint Commissioners of Police to Assistant Commissioners of Police, attended the public hearings, listened to citizens’ concerns and issued directions to the officers concerned for prompt action and effective follow-up.
The grievances raised during the sessions were examined, with appropriate instructions issued to ensure timely redressal. The initiative also enables citizens to share suggestions and flag issues requiring police intervention through direct interaction with senior officials.
The public outreach exercise comes as Delhi Police continues to maintain law and order during the ongoing festive season, with personnel deployed to manage public gatherings, regulate traffic movement and strengthen security at markets and other crowded locations across the capital.
Launched in June 2026 on the directions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Thana Divas–Jansunwai initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar.
Under the programme, citizens can meet police officers and present their complaints every Saturday between 10 am and 2 pm. The initiative aims to strengthen police-public engagement, improve accountability and ensure that grievances are addressed through direct supervision by senior officers.
The weekly hearings are intended to provide an accessible channel for citizens to seek police intervention and enable the department to monitor complaints and follow-up action at the district and police station levels.UNI PWS AAB
