ESI provisions extended to entire areas of 31 Gujarat districts from Oct 1

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The Centre has notified October 1 as the date from which Employees’ State Insurance-related contribution and benefit provisions will take effect in the entire areas of 15 previously non-implemented and 16 partially implemented districts of Gujarat, according to a Labour Ministry notification.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment, through notification S.O. 5310(E) dated September 25, said contributions from employers and employees of establishments in the specified areas will become payable under Section 29 of the Code on Social Security, 2020 from October 1.
Applicable benefits under Chapter IV relating to the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation will also be provided to employees of such establishments.
The 15 non-implemented districts covered are Amreli, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Botad, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Dang, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Kutch, Mahisagar, Narmada, Patan, Tapi and Vav-Tharad.
The notification also extends the provisions to the entire area of 16 partially implemented districts — Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kheda, Mehsana, Morbi, Navsari, Panchmahal, Porbandar, Rajkot, Sabarkantha, Surat and Surendranagar.
The fresh notification supersedes the Labour Ministry's S.O. 5206(E) of September 22, 2026, except in respect of actions already taken or omitted before the supersession.
The notification was issued by Ashutosh A.T. Pednekar, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
