Haryana: Ambala councillor Sandeep Sharma leaves Chitra Sarwara camp, joins BJP with supporters

Ambala, Oct 18 (UNI) Ambala Sadar Municipal Council's Ward 6 councillor, Sandeep Sharma, today severed ties with Chitra Sarwara's camp and joined the BJP along with his supporters in the presence of Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij.
Ashutosh, who had contested the municipal election from the same ward as an Independent candidate, also joined the BJP at a function held at Vij's residence in Ambala Cantonment.
The inductions were facilitated by senior BJP leader and councillor Madan Lal Sharma and rural mandal president Vikas Bahgal. Party leaders claimed that hundreds of supporters also joined the BJP.
Welcoming the new entrants, Vij said the party's emphasis on development and public service was attracting elected representatives and political workers.
Quoting a popular Urdu couplet, Vij said he had begun his political journey alone, but others had joined him along the way.
“We do not practise politics based on caste or regionalism. We believe only in the politics of development,” Vij said.
He credited party workers and residents for the development of Ambala Cantonment and said further projects would be undertaken to strengthen its infrastructure.
Vij said he had joined the party in 1971 and maintained that politics should be a means of serving the public.
Sharma described Vij as his political mentor and said he had decided to join the BJP because of the minister's leadership and development initiatives in Ambala Cantonment.
Ashutosh also expressed support for the BJP's leadership and said he would work with the party organisation.
Several local BJP leaders, municipal representatives and party office-bearers attended the programme. UNI KK SS
