Kerala BJP headquarters attacked: Party announces statewide protests

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 30 (UNI) The Kerala BJP state headquarters, Mararji Bhavan, here came under attack on Wednesday night, with stones and bottles allegedly hurled at the office.
The incident occurred shortly after a vehicle belonging to a senior BJP leader was allegedly attacked in the state capital, sources said.
Condemning the incidents, the BJP said targeting its state headquarters under the cover of darkness was a challenge to the basic values of democracy.
The party said resorting to violence when political issues could not be addressed politically was against the spirit of democratic politics.
The BJP strongly condemned the attack and announced that it would organise protests across the state against the incidents.
The party asserted that it would not be intimidated or forced to retreat in the face of violence.
Meanwhile, the SFI condemned the police action against students following a clash between Youth Congress workers and SFI activists near the University of Kerala Men's Hostel at Palayam here.
The SFI alleged that police entered the hostel premises and resorted to lathicharge, leaving several students injured. It also alleged that tear gas and water cannons were used to disperse the students.
The SFI said protests would be organised across the state against what it termed police excesses and the policies of the government.
The organisation also announced a statewide education bandh on Thursday in protest against the police action.

APPCB to explore alternative routes for heavy vehicles to reduce Visakhapatnam air pollution
