103 new bridges, 33.65 Km roads to be constructed in Bihar

Patna, Apr 7 (UNI) Taking a major initiative towards strengthening rural road connectivity in Bihar, the Central Government has approved new schemes worth Rs 367.94 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-III).
Official source said here on Monday that in addition to 5 new roads, 103 new bridges would be constructed under the scheme.
The sources said that a total of 33.65 km long roads and 3891.17 mt long Bridges would be constructed.
Of the sanction amount, Rs 214 crore was the central assistance, and the state matching share was Rs 153.94 crore.
Bihar government has also been awarded with promotional amount of Rs 138 crore from the centre for its commendable achievements under the Pradhanmantri rural roads scheme in the year 2023-24.
The sources said that the state government has decided to contribute Rs 92 crore in the promotional amount to spend it on periodic maintenance of the roads.
The scheme is aimed at connecting every village of the state with strong, safe, and weather-friendly roads.
