Bihar: Chief engineer dismissed after ED recovers cash from residence

Patna, Mar 28 (UNI) Bihar Government on Friday dismissed Chief Engineer Tarni Das of the Building Construction Department a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recovered huge cash and other movable assets from his locations during raids.
Official sources said here that Tarni Prasad was appointed on a contract basis as chief engineer after his retirement. A number of irregularities committed by him came to light during the investigation including the cancellation of the tender without completing the due process.
Show cause notice was issued to Das asking him to make his stand clear on charges levelled against him but he refused to reply to any notice. During the ED raid at several locations linked to Das on Thursday, Rs 3 crore in cash and other movable assets were recovered indicating his illegal transaction by misusing his official position.
A total of Rs 11.64 crores was recovered from different locations of Das. Within 24 hours of recovery of cash and other movable assets, Das was dismissed from his service. UNI KKS SSP
