BSF nabs five Bangladeshi nationals in Meghalaya

Shillong, May 4 (UNI) Five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from two different locations near the India-Bangladesh border during the past 24 hours in Meghalaya, a Border Security Force (BSF) official said on Sunday.
A BSF official said two intruders residents of Bangladesh’s Sunamganj district, were apprehended on Saturday by BSF troopers along the international border in the East Khasi Hills district.
The arrested Bangladeshi intruders told BSF officials that they had crossed the international border in search of job opportunities in India.
Both individuals were handed over to Dangar Police Station for further legal action.
In another operation, vigilant troops of the BSF detected suspicious movement along the border and promptly acted, leading to the apprehension of three Bangladeshi nationals resident of Pabna, Sherpur and Kishoreganj districts of Bangladesh.
During preliminary interrogation, the trio revealed that they had been working as tailors in a garment factory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The BSF handed over the trio to Mahendraganj Police Station in South West Garo Hills district for further legal proceedings.
“These successful operations underscore BSF Meghalaya's unwavering commitment to national security and its relentless efforts to prevent illegal activities such as smuggling and infiltration,” the BSF official said, adding that the BSF remains steadfast in its duty to secure the international border and will continue to take stringent action against any unlawful activities.
Meghalaya shares a 443-km border with Bangladesh, of which 49.216 km is unfenced and has terrain difficult to patrol.
