Organization of Khelo India Youth Games 2025 matter of pride for Bihar: Nitish

Patna, May 4 (UNI) Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting the responsibilities to Bihar for organising Khelo India Youth Games 2025, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Sunday that organising this event was a matter of pride and honour for all Biharis.
Addressing the inaugural function of the event declared open by PM Modi through video conferencing, Kumar said that the Centre began the Khelo India Youth Games in the year 2018.
Enthused with the responsibilities conferred upon Bihar for organising the event, Kumar said that Khelo India Youth Games were being held in five districts of Bihar, namely Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Bhagalpur and Begusarai.
Kumar further said he was personally monitoring the preparations for organising the event and continued that the concerned authorities have discharged their responsibilities carefully to make the event a grand success.
The Chief Minister said that the state government was already developing the sports facilities in which the Centre was also cooperating.
Kumar said the state government constructed Patliputra Sports Complex where the event was being held.
Apart from constructing sports field in schools and other places to promote various games and sports in the state, he said that those winning the medals were directly getting the job and till date, 367 athletes and sports personnel have got the appointment letters.
The Chief Minister said to promote sports in the state the government created a new Sports department in the year 2024 and also established sports university and sports academy in Rajgir of Nalanda district.
Outlining the central assistance to Bihar, Kumar said that the Centre announced special economic package to Bihar in the year 2024 for various sectors including road, industry, health, tourism and flood control.
While presenting the budget in February 2025, the Centre announced to set up Makhana board in Bihar, establishment of greenfield airports, food processing institutions of national level and expansion of IIT along with financial assistance for western Kosi canal.
