Patna, Apr 06 (UNI) Congress has not officially accepted RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav as CM face of Grand Alliance so far for next Bihar assembly election to be held in October-November this year.
President of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee(BPCC) Rajesh Ram told media persons here on Monday that issue of CM face in Grand Alliance would be finalised only after meeting of all its constituents.
It would not be proper for him to say anything on the issue at this stage, he remarked.
Former president of BPCC Madan Mohan Jha said that no one had denied or rejected Tejashwi as CM face of Grand Alliance. Yes, it was true that CM face of Grand Alliance had not been finalised so far, but Tejashwi as CM face, had not been rejected either, he pointed out tonig down the stand of the party on the issue.
Congress MLA from Aurangabad Anand Shankar Singh appeared more vocal in favour of Tejashwi as CM face, saying he was natural choice. Congress had contested 2020 Bihar assembly elections under the leadership of Tejaswi as CM face of Grand Alliance, he pointed out. Similarly, Tejashwi was leader of Grand Alliance in Bihar in last Lok Sabha elections held in 2024, he added.
On the other hand, national spokesman of JD(U) Rajeev Ranjan said that relation of Congress and RJD got strained. Congress was trying to scare RJD chief Lalu Prasad by asserting itself before next Bihar assembly elections, he added.
" Frequent visits of Rahul Gandhi to Bihar would not help in boosting the fate of Congress in next assembly elections, " JD(U) leader said adding that such exercise was being made to exert pressure on RJD. Mass base of Congress had slipped much earlier in Bihar, he felt.
