CPI(ML) demands withdrawal of punitive action against "Jeevika Cadres"

Patna, Mar 25(UNI) The CPI(ML) on Tuesday demanded that the government withdraw punitive action against Jeevika cadres who were agitating in support of their charter of demands in all parts of Bihar.
Leader of CPI(ML) legislative party Mehboob Alam submitted a memorandum to Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar, requesting him to withdraw with immediate effect, all punitive actions taken against Jeevika cadres. The Bihar government had also issued a directive to stop financial assistance being given to them for their indulgence in agitation, but later the related order was withdrawn, he pointed out.
" It is disturbing to note that punitive action taken against them could not be withdrawn to date", the CPI(ML) leader said, adding that it would be in the interest of a large number of Jeevika Cadres if the government withdrew all actions taken against them. Agitation in support of their demands was a fundamental right of the Jeevika cadres, and they should not be penalised for such activities, he noted.
The Minister, while accepting the memorandum, assured the CPI(ML) leader to consider the demand sympathetically. He also assured him that the interests of Jeevika cadres would be protected at any cost.
