Local BSP leader shot dead over old rivalry in Firozabad

Firozabad (UP), Apr 26 (UNI) A 50-year-old local Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader was stabbed and later to death allegedly over an old rivalry in the Tundla area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that former district panchayat member of BSP, Vinod Kumar alias Pappu Kushwaha, a resident of Mohammadabad village, was going somewhere on his motorcycle from home at around 10:00 am on Saturday. "Four people blocked his way and injured him with knives and shot him," they said.
Police sources said that after hearing the bullet shots, the people of the area ran towards the spot, by then the attackers had fled. "On receiving the information the Tundla police station along with the forces of many other police stations reached the spot. Senior Superintendent of Police and Additional SP also reached the spot," they said.
Police sources said that on receiving the news of the murder, a large crowd of villagers gathered at the spot and created a ruckus. "After the agitating people were assured of strict action against the accused and their arrest, the angry people allowed the body to be taken from the spot," they said.
SSP Saurabh Dixit said that an old rivalry is being said to be the reason behind the murder. "According to the family, the murder accused is a youth from the neighbourhood, for whose arrest the police has constituted two teams led by ASP and necessary action is being taken by collecting evidence from the spot by the field unit," he said.
He said that the son of the deceased went to jail in the year 2016 in a murder case.
