Mumbai, Mar 21 (UNI) In a bid to reduce malnutrition in urban areas, the Maharashtra government will implement the Nutrition Diet Scheme for children in the city, the state's Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare informed the Legislative Council on Friday.
Tatkare said malnutrition in tribal areas has cone down because of the Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Amrit Ahar Yojana being implemented to ensure malnourished mothers and children get adequate nutrition, A proposal will be sent to the Tribal Development Department to increase the square ration fund.
Also, it is the government's role to ensure that every pregnant mother, child, and lactating mother in the state gets proper food, she said, adding the food provided is checked periodically. If the inspection finds any fault in the diet, it is sent back.
Tatkare informed the House that malnourished children and mothers are also provided with supplementary food. UNI VKB XC SSP
