Manipur: Govt announces Rs 10 lakh for information of missing youth

Imphal, Mar 29 (UNI) The Manipur government has announced a sum of Rs 10 lakh for information about a missing youth.
A statement issued by Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur, on Saturday said the youth, Luwangthem Mukesh (aged about 20), son of L Gyanendra Das of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Imphal West, was reported missing on March 16.
A case under Sections 140(1), 142 / 3 (5) of BNS was registered at Imphal PS.
Manipur Police, under the supervision of a senior-level officer, along with Assam Rifles and other Security Forces, have conducted joint operations for search and rescue of the missing person in the vicinity of suspected areas in the districts of Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Noney and other parts of the state, utilizing advanced technical data analysis and intelligence.
The state government has urged citizens to come forward with any relevant information that could assist in the safe return of the missing person.
Further, the state government has also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh only to an informant who provides credible information leading to safe return of the missing person.
So far, about 31 persons are still reported missing after the Manipur crisis which began on May three, 2023. All the missing persons had gone to Churachandpur, Kangpokpi districts by mistake. The two districts are dominated by a particular community involved in the crisis.
