Nitish and JDU do not need Cong certificate on secularism: Lalan

Patna, Apr 1 (UNI) Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh firmly said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JDU do not need any certificate from Congress on secularism.

Talking to a section of media on the issue of Waqf bill, Singh said on Tuesday that his party JDU will clear its stand in the parliament on it.

Replying to a query regarding demands of Congress from the JDU to clear its stand on Waqf bill which it had dubbed as against the constitution, Singh said that Nitish Kumar and JDU do not need any certificate from Congress on secularism.

Asking Congress to reveal the work it had done for the welfare of Muslims, Singh said that it was Kumar who actually did justice to the riot-affected families.

The Union Minister further said that the work done by Kumar for the rights and upliftment of Muslims in the last 20 years was not done by any other government in any state of the country after independence.

Referring to the horrifying Bhagalpur riots in which thousands of Muslims had lost their lives, Singh said this all had happened during the rule of Congress which did nothing for the bereaved families.

He alleged that secularism is just a slogan for Congress and claimed that the riot victim women were getting pension which was started in the regime of Kuma. He further said that Congress is only concerned for its vote bank whereas Kumar was delivering justice to the Muslims.

Singh cleared that his party would exhibit its stand on Waqf for bill in the Lok Sabha.
