Manipur: 42 arms deposited, SF destroys 15 acres of poppy cultivation

Imphal, Mar 2 (UNI) A total of 42 different types of weapons, various ammunitions/munitions, and other miscellaneous items were voluntarily surrendered by the public to Imphal West, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, and Tamenglong District police during the last 24 hours.
Police said on Sunday that the arms included 303 Rifle, DBBL, SBBL, Grenade, . 32 Pistol (Country made) , Pompi gun, walkie talkie, INSAS Rifle Magazine, 7.62 mm Ghatak Rifle.
Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas and one 5.56 mm INSAS LMG with one Magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 5.56 mm Ammunition, one AK-56 Rifle and others were recovered from Sairemkhul area under Lamshang-PS, Imphal West District.
Security Forces (SF) and Forest Division, Tengnoupal, in the presence of SDM, Tengnoupal, conducted illegal poppy destruction at the Hill Ranges of Khudei Laipham and destroyed 15 acres under Tengnoupal-PS, Tengnoupal District.
Security forces dismantled two illegal bunkers at Manipur hills under Kangpokpi District. Another three illegal bunkers were dismantled at the Manipur hill range in the adjoining areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal East Districts.
