Centre clears Bengal CM Mamata's UK trip

Kolkata, Mar 12 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to visit the United Kingdom as the Centre has cleared her week-long sojourn beginning on March 21, official sources at the state secretariat Nabanna said on Wednesday.
Sources said Nabanna has received a communication from the Union government regarding her official visit to the UK. Banerjee is expected to depart on March 21 to the UK via Dubai, and deliver a lecture at the University of Oxford during her stay. She is also scheduled to meet UK-based industrialists and business delegations to discuss potential investments in the state.
Banerjee's last overseas visit was in Spain in 2023 where she also took a business delegation. In 2015, the Chief Minister visited the United Kingdom. This time she is going on an invitation from the iconic educational institution University of Oxford.
