Tripura LoP writes to Speaker alleging violation of rules

Agartala, Mar 28 (UNI) Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury on Friday wrote to Speaker of the assembly Biswa Bandhu Sen asking him to cancel the privilege motion moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath against CPI(M) mouthpiece as its submission didn’t follow the procedure.
Two days ago, Speaker accepted the privilege motion of Chaudhury against Minister Nath for an alleged racial comment to LoP and also admitted a similar motion of Nath. But Speaker allowed Nath’s motion, claiming that it was submitted prior to Chaudhury. Protesting it, CPI-M announced a boycott of the remaining business days of ongoing budget session.
“As per the rule, only one such notice would be accepted in the assembly's secretariat, but the Speaker himself said in the house that Nath had given the notice to Private Secretary of the Speaker before me. But I have submitted the notice following procedure, and it was registered in the assembly well before Nath’s notice reached office,” Chaudhury stated.
