Narayanpet (Telangana), Feb 21 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy inaugurated a petrol bunk set up by Zilla Mahila Samakhya (ZMS) at Appakpalli in Narayanpet district on Friday.
The facility, established in collaboration with BPCL, is the first petrol bunk in the state to be entirely run by women.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister expressed his delight in launching India’s first women-managed petrol bunk under a women's association.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, emphasizing that women would remain a top priority in all state initiatives.
He highlighted the revival of women’s self-help groups (SHGs) after the formation of the Praja government, noting that 67 lakh women are currently part of these groups, to make one crore women millionaires in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy also pointed out that 600 RTC buses have been handed over to women as owners, ensuring economic independence. Additionally, he mentioned the government's plan to support women in setting up 1,000 MW solar power plants, as well as the establishment of Shilparamam stalls to help market products made by SHGs.
The Chief Minister announced plans to distribute two sarees per year to women in SHGs, ensuring they receive high-quality fabric, just as one would provide for their daughters. He further assured that the government would provide necessary funding for school maintenance, urging local authorities to ensure proper upkeep.
Revanth Reddy also sought cooperation from MP D K Aruna in securing funds from the central government to further promote women’s development in Telangana.
He reaffirmed that the state government is ready to offer any necessary support to enhance women's opportunities and ensure their financial independence.
