Odisha observes “Barna Bodha Utsav” as part of Odia pakhya celebration

Bhubaneswar, Apr 7 (UNI) As part of the ongoing Odia Pakhya celebrations, the seventh day was marked by the state-wide observance of Barna Bodha Utsav on Monday.
In this unique initiative led by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Barna Bodha, written by legendary poet Bhaktakabi Madhusudan Rao, was distributed among school students.
The Culture Department coordinated with various schools to ensure the widespread distribution of Barna Bodha, with special efforts made to reach remote regions and promote Odia literacy.
Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida participated in the event held at SSP High School in Nimapara, where she distributed the books among children.
Similarly, Minister of School and Mass Education Nityananda Gond attended the event at Government Primary School in Bhaluguda, Umerkote, in Nabarangpur district, where he handed over books to the students.
He emphasized the significant role of Barna Bodha in strengthening language learning and foundational education.
Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi also attended a Barna Bodha distribution event in Nilagiri, where he motivated students and highlighted the pivotal role of the book in laying a strong foundation for Odia language learning.
The day witnessed enthusiastic participation from educators, parents, and children alike.
Citizens from across the state praised the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department for its innovative and dedicated efforts to enhance Odia language literacy.
Through this celebration, the Department has reignited a sense of linguistic pride, making Odia Pakhya a truly inspiring tribute to heritage and learning.
