Bhubaneswar, May 6 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police apprehended a drug peddler on Tuesday and recovered 263 grams of brown sugar (heroin) along with other incriminating materials from his possession.
According to STF sources, based on an intelligence input, a raid was conducted by the STF team from Bhubaneswar on the Labangiri-Panchagaon Road under the jurisdiction of the Airfield Police Station in Bhubaneswar UPD on Tuesday morning.
The operation targeted illegal possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs.
During the raid, the STF apprehended one individual, identified as Jyotikrishna from Bomikhal village, under the LaxmiSagar Police Station limits.
A subsequent search led to the seizure of 263 grams of brown sugar (heroin) from his possession.
The accused failed to produce any valid documentation authorizing possession of the contraband. As a result, he was arrested and will be forwarded to the court of the District Judge-cum-Special Judge, Khordha.
A case has been registered under Section 21(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985, and further investigation is underway.
