Odisha: Woman arrested for duping people with false bank loan assurances

Puri, Mar 25 (UNI) Chandanpur police arrested one Tilottama Pradhan on Monday for allegedly duping people by falsely promising to arrange bank loans.
According to the police, multiple complaints were filed against her for collecting amounts ranging from Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 from individuals in Satyabadi, Chandanpur, and Puri Sadar, assuring them of loan approvals.
Previously, in 2019, she had defrauded people under a similar pretext and had been evading the police.
On February 19, several victims lodged fresh complaints against Pradhan. During the investigation, the police discovered that she had constructed a large house in Sri Ramnagar, Puri town.
She was presented before the court on Monday. Superintendent of Police Vinit Agarwal stated that her bank accounts have been frozen, and efforts are underway to recover the defrauded money.
