Agartala, Mar 29 (UNI) Tripura has provided patta (land deed) to as many as 1,31,564 forest dwelling families so far under Forest Rights Act -2006, said Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma in reply to a calling attention at the assembly.
He said a total of 1,89, 819 hectares of land has been allocated among the beneficiaries, who were given pattas, and underlined that the state government was committed to the proper implementation of the Forest Rights Act-2006, to ensure patta to genuine forest dwellers.
However, most of the patta land was not demarcated, and as a result, neither the patta holders nor the forest department make use of the land. The forest department recently wrote to the Tribal Welfare department for the demarcation of the patta lands in consultation with the Revenue department, said Debbarma.
He informed that the Revenue Department carried out demarcation of patta lands in some areas in some districts with the fixing of boundary pillars.
However, till date, these maps are not attached with the RoFR certificates or pattas.
