Unprovoked firing by Pak on LoC in 5 districts of J&K

Jammu, May 2 (UNI) Pakistan Army yet again violated the ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked small arms firing along the Line of Control in five districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Defence spokesman here on Friday said that during the night of May 1-2, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms firing from posts across the Line of Control opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera in Rajouri and Akhnoor in Jammu districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Indian Army troops responded in a calibrated and proportionate manner," he said.

On April 30 also, Pakistan Army resorted to small arms firing from across the Line of Control opposite Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor sectors besides in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of Kashmir division as well as across the International Border in the Pargwal and Ramgarh Sectors of Jammu and Samba districts respectively.

Border tension escalated between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
