₹50-lakh heroin haul in Panchkula; 256 gm seized, Amritsar-to-Tricity supply chain under probe

Panchkula, Sep 18 (UNI) Panchkula Police have arrested a 24-year-old man with 256 grams of heroin, valued at more than ₹50 lakh, and launched a probe into its alleged supply chain from Amritsar to the Tricity, a spokesperson said.
The accused, Mohit Kumar of Shyamtuu village in Panchkula district, allegedly planned to divide the consignment into one-gram packets and sell them in Panchkula, Dhakoli, Zirakpur and adjoining areas, police said.
DCP (Crime and Traffic) Amrinder Singh said Crime Branch-1 received information on September 17 that a man carrying heroin was present near the Mattewali flyover on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar highway.
A team led by Crime Branch-1 in-charge Manoj Kumar intercepted the suspect and allegedly recovered 256 grams of heroin. A case under the NDPS Act was registered at Chandimandir Police Station.
Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain said preliminary questioning indicated that Mohit allegedly procured the heroin from Amritsar and intended to sell it in packets of around one gram each for about ₹2,500 per gram.
A court remanded the accused in police custody for five days. Police said investigators will question him to identify the main supplier and other people allegedly linked to the drug distribution network. UNI KK CDS
